Overview:
The course ensures in-house trainers teach effective driver safety content based on The Smith5Keys®.
Required for Smith System certified driver trainers every two years for recertification.
Course Goals:
Instill and refine safer driving habits among fleet drivers.
Equip trainers with skills and training aids to teach Smith System’s crash-avoidance methods.
Course Structure:
Day 1: Fundamentals (classroom and behind-the-wheel).
Day 2: Dynamic Smith5Keys presentation with embedded videos.
Day 3: Evaluate driving through Driver Evaluation form.
Day 4: Overview of training and skill solidification.
Day 5: Refinement of classroom presentation and speaker notes. Alternative: 4-day course for up to 4 trainees.

Course Content:
Fundamentals of Smith System and The Smith5Keys.
Creating dynamic Smith5Keys presentations.
Behind-the-wheel observation, demonstration, and coaching.
Driver evaluation using the Driver Evaluation form.
Recertification Training:
2-day or 3-day options.
Review of past content, new techniques, national crash statistics.
Practice presentations and demo drives.
Additional Courses:
Advanced Backing & Close-Quarter Maneuvering: Tools to teach backing, parking, and close-quarter maneuvers using The Smith5Keys®.
Driver Skill Evaluator: Training for managers to perform effective ride-along evaluations using The Smith5Keys.
Training Formats:
On-Site Training: Conducted at client's location for up to 6 people.
Clients provide classroom and training vehicle.
Open Enrollment Training: Smith System provides meeting room and training vehicle.
